Paul Yandoh has placed third in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Ashanti Regional Secretary election after leaving his previous position as Regional Communications Officer to contest the post.
Mr Yandoh secured 105 votes in the contest, which was won by Francis Adomako with 492 votes. Michael Amoah Awuku finished second with 331 votes.
Yandoh’s candidacy attracted attention ahead of the election, particularly after Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene, a member of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), publicly endorsed and campaigned for him on social media.
The cross-party endorsement generated interest among party supporters and delegates as the election approached.
However, the results saw Mr Adomako emerge as the clear winner, while Mr Yandoh finished third with 105 votes.
His defeat means Mr Yandoh will not be part of the new Ashanti Regional executive team, having left the Communications Officer position to contest the Secretary role.
The election forms part of the NPP’s internal reorganisation as the party seeks to strengthen its structures and grassroots base in the Ashanti Region ahead of the 2028 general elections
