Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale recently opened up about a spiritual experience he had while recording his 2022 hit song “On God.”
Speaking on the popular “Rants, Bants and Confessions” podcast co-hosted by popular socialite Efia Odo, the controversial musician claimed that angels were sitting with him in his room, saying, “I started playing something in my room, and angels were sitting with me. The song was so spiritual to me before it came out.”
Shatta Wale explained that comparisons between him and Black Sherif pushed him to create “On God.” He shared, “When they started saying that, I was fueled to record ‘On God’ because I was like, ‘God, why are you making these people do this to me?’” Inspired by his critics, he created the track as a message to those who doubted him.
Describing his impact on the music industry, Shatta Wale compared himself to a phoenix, a symbol of rebirth and strength. He added, “Shatta Wale is a kind of spirit that when you touch, it’s so serious that Angel Michael gets pissed.”
