AFROTALKS APPOINTS RAS MUBARAK TO ADVISORY BOARD

AfroTalks, the forward-thinking Pan-African think tank and convening platform, has appointed Ras Mubarak, the distinguished Ghanaian activist, former Member of Parliament, and champion of continental unity, to its Advisory Board. This appointment arrives at a transformative moment for the organization, as it builds on successful editions in Accra and Lagos while gearing up for its next major milestone: the Kigali edition in May 2026.

Founded by Bright Tenbil, a seasoned event curator with deep roots in Ghana's innovation and creative scenes, AfroTalks is dedicated to amplifying African voices by Africans, igniting the African Dream, shaping policy through thoughtful research, and creating lasting community impact. What began as a Ghana-centered initiative has evolved into a truly continental movement, hosting bi-annual gatherings that blend high-level dialogue, innovation showcases like AfroPitch, cultural activations, and practical solutions for Africa's shared challenges.

The journey has been marked by impactful stops. The flagship Accra edition in May 2025, held at the University of Ghana School of Law under the theme "HOW," emphasized actionable strategies for transformation, featuring policymakers, innovators, and panels on entrepreneurship, migration, and "Africa Beyond Aid." Building on that energy, AfroTalks successfully hosted its Lagos edition in October 2025 at Alliance Française, Ikoyi. Themed "Matrix: Navigating Inherited Systems That Influence the African Dream," the sold-out event brought together thought leaders, creatives, and entrepreneurs to interrogate political, cultural, and economic structures while fostering innovation through AfroPitch, where young startups pitched for grants and partnerships. The gathering reinforced AfroTalks' role as a space where conversation turns into tangible progress, from startup funding to reimagined narratives.

Looking ahead, AfroTalks is set to take its convening power to new heights with the Kigali edition scheduled for May 2026, followed by Nairobi in September of the same year. These expansions reflect the platform's vision of a borderless, interconnected Africa where ideas, opportunities, and impact flow freely across cities and borders.

Ras Mubarak's addition to the Advisory Board is a natural and powerful fit. A lifelong Pan-Africanist inspired by icons like Kwame Nkrumah and Marcus Garvey, Mubarak brings unparalleled on-the-ground perspective from his leadership of the Trans Africa Tourism & Unity Campaign, a 163-day road journey across 39 countries advocating for visa-free travel, intra-African tourism, and deeper integration well ahead of the African Union's 2063 targets. His background as a former MP for Kumbungu, CEO of the National Youth Authority, and journalist equips him to bridge grassroots activism with high-level policy influence, making him an ideal voice to guide AfroTalks as it scales continent-wide.

"Ras Mubarak's tireless work on free movement and unity complements AfroTalks' mission perfectly," noted founder Bright Tenbil. "His experiences traveling and engaging leaders across Africa will enrich our discussions, ensuring our events and initiatives remain grounded in real continental realities while pushing for bold, practical change."

Mubarak joins an already impressive Advisory Board of influential figures:

- Diallo Sumbry, CEO of The Adinkra Group, whose expertise in cultural entrepreneurship and keynote contributions has helped spotlight the African Dream through business and heritage lenses.

- Seyram Apiorkor –Abbey, the acclaimed Ghanaian poet, author, and media creative, bringing poetic depth and storytelling prowess to amplify diverse African narratives.

- Okyeame Kwame, the celebrated artivist and musician, whose socially conscious artistry merges culture, hip-hop, and activism to inspire community action.

- Gabriel Appiah (Ghizo), Director of BTL Africa, one of the continent's fastest-growing marketing agencies, with strategic insights from operating across seven countries.

Together, this board now combines creative firepower, business innovation, cultural influence, and activist drive, positioned to elevate AfroTalks' impact as it convenes in Kigali and beyond. Mubarak's involvement is expected to infuse fresh urgency into themes like migration, economic integration, and youth empowerment, while strengthening ties between AfroTalks' dialogues and real-world advocacy.

As AfroTalks continues to grow, from the success of Lagos 2025 to the anticipation for Kigali in May 2026, this appointment signals a new chapter of deeper, more connected Pan-African collaboration.
