Ghanaian dancehall artist Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has been detained by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).
His detention was confirmed by his media manager, Samuel Atuobi Baah.
The statement revealed that the musician was detained after honouring an invitation by EOCO today, August 20, 2025.
“The management of dancehall artist Shatta Wale (Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr.) is issuing this statement following his detention by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) today.
This follows an inquiry related to the tax obligations of a yellow Lamborghini vehicle.”
The statement further assured fans and the general public to remain calm as Shatta Wale and his legal team cooperate with the authorities to resolve the matter.
“We want to assure all fans and the general public that his legal team is fully engaged and actively working with the authorities to resolve this matter. They are taking all necessary steps to secure his release at the earliest opportunity.
We urge the SM Family and all well-wishers to remain calm and avoid any speculation.”
Shatta Wale’s management is set to visit the EOCO offices on Thursday, August 21, 2025, for further deliberations.
“Management and his legal representatives will return to the EOCO offices tomorrow morning to continue these discussions. We will provide further updates as appropriate.”
