MTN Ghana will temporarily suspend all Mobile Money (MoMo) services on Sunday, August 17, 2025, to facilitate a planned system upgrade aimed at improving platform performance and reliability.
According to Charles Asamoah Assah, Chief Technology and Service Delivery Officer at Mobile Money Limited, the downtime will run from 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. During this six-hour window, customers will not be able to send or receive money, make deposits or withdrawals, transfer funds, or pay bills via MoMo.
“Please be informed of a planned system upgrade on 17th August 2025, from 12 midnight to 6 a.m. During this period, all Mobile Money services will be unavailable. This upgrade is to improve our services to you,” Mr. Assah said, apologising for any inconvenience and urging customers to complete urgent transactions ahead of time.
MTN noted that the maintenance window is necessary to allow engineers to implement enhancements that will support more efficient service delivery and future growth of the widely used mobile payments platform. Services are expected to resume immediately after 6:00 a.m. on Sunday.Source:NKONKONSA.com
