Gov’t should drug test Free SHS students - MP cries

Hon. Ernest Adomako, the MP for Okaikwei South, has suggested that the Ministry of Education should consider introducing drug tests for senior high and tertiary students when they return from vacation.

He believes this could help tackle the growing problem of hard drug and marijuana use among students. According to the first time member of parliament who is popularly known as Keon, the government is investing in Free SHS to help shape students into responsible adults, but the rising rate of drug usage and abuse is a threat to archieving the goal.

He added that since the government is supporting these students, it has a responsibility to ensure that only those who are serious and committed to their personal development are allowed to benefit from the system.
