My father’s funeral costs GHS200,000 – Afia Schwarzeneger reveals (VIDEO)

 


 Ghanaian socialite Afia Schwarzenegger has been in the news for the past few days due to the star-studded funeral of her late dad in Kumasi.

The funeral which attracted top politicians, actors, media personalities as well other Ghanaian entertainers cost a whopping GHS200,000; the actress has revealed.

Taking to social media to thank some of her colleagues and businessmen who turned up to show support, Afia revealed that all expenses made for the funeral amount to GHS200,000.

She also disclosed that business tycoon Dr. Kwaku Oteng gave her over GHS60,000 for the funeral expenses as well Fadda Dickson of Despite Media Group who donated a substantial amount.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for the Ashanti Region, Chairman Wontumi also stormed the funeral grounds and donated GHS4,000.

Dressed in a black kaftan and accompanied by a team of NPP members, Chairman Wontumi was greeted with cheers from the other mourners, with many shouting his name.

The father of the actress passed away on January 17, 2022. He was 80-year-old.

Meanwhile, recall the popular social media celebrity announced her political  ambition after she visited her father's hometown and was given a rousing welcome by residents.

Schwarzenegger said she will contest for the Fomena seat and prayed that her late dad who she described as her personal angel will support her in the feat.

The Fomema seat is currently occupied by Hon Andrew Amoako Asiamah who is currently the Second Deputy Speaker.

The MP won the seat as an Independent candidate after he lost the NPP primaries. It is unclear if he will contest the elections again on the NPP ticket as he renounced the party in the lead-up to the 2020 election.

Afia Schwarzenegger, who defected from NDC to support the NPP, and Nana Addo in the 2020 elections said she will contest the seat as an independent candidate. "With the help of God n my personal angel(dad) I'm coming back to contest the Fomena seat in 2024...my people deserve better," she wrote.
