Court fines Medikal GH 3,600 for displaying gun publicly

 



The musician was sentenced to the fine after he pleaded guilty to the charge of displaying a gun in public.

Medikal initially pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared in court on November 26, 2021 but decided to change his plea.

The court presided over by His Honour Emmanuel Essandoh was expected to give its ruling on an application filed on behalf of the musician for the release of his gun.

The ‘La Hustle’ singer however informed the court he wanted to change his plea.

The charge was read to him and he pleaded guilty to the charge of displaying arms and ammunition in a public place.

The court subsequently convicted him on his own plea and the court sentenced him to a fine of GHc3,600 or in defiance he will serve nine months in prison. 

 


Recall Medikal landed in this legal tussle he was arrested on October 22, 2021, for brandishing a pistol on social media.

Exactly on September 26, 2021, the rapper got some attention on social media after a video surfaced online where he was seen flaunting a pistol believed to be newly acquired.

Medikal is a Ghanaian hip-hop musician born to Portia Lamptey and James Frimpong in Sowutuom, a suburb of Accra.

Medikal and Sarkodie had the highest nominations for the 2017 edition of the Ghana Music Awards. In 2018, he was on the Tim Westwood Show. Medikal had his High School education at Odorgonno Senior High.
