This is AFCON, not trial and error- Sonnie Badu tells Dede Ayew & Black Stars

On Monday, January 10, the Black Stars of Ghana played their first match against Morocco in the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The team lost 1:0 to their opponents, bringing down the spirit of supporters worldwide.

Gospel musician, Sonnie Badu, who is a huge fan of the Black Stars, had a few things to get off his chest following the defeat.

According to him, AFCON is the real deal and not some trial and error so the right decisions on players should be made.

Sonnie Badu, from the sidelines, thinks that the new players in the camp need maximum support from oldies like Asamoah Gyan, John Paintsil and others to motivate them to championship.

“Dear GFA, I don’t know how many experienced players are in the camp to help these new ones settle. However, this is 2022 Africa Cup of Nations, not trial and error … The likes of @stephenappiahofficial @asamoah_gyan3 @laryea7official@john_paintsil_official should be in the dressing room motivating the young ones,” he shared on his Instagram.

He also quieted why Richard Ofori was not included in the AFCON 2021 squad.

“…and why is #RichardOfori not part of the goalkeepers?

After expressing his disappointment, Sonnie Badu stated that he was giving the team one more chance and then he’s out.

“One more and then I am done, still in the spirit of Afcon,” he wrote.

He continued; “I watched the Gabon game and we will have a problem with height. I am not too worried about the Comoros boys, they are very tall as well, so in this case we need a player who can hold the ball on the ground and not long balls. We need tall experienced defenders to hold the back … @andreayew10 has to really provoke them with his skills just to win a penalty, it’s now or never guys ..”
