'I am ready to play for the Black Stars' - Asante Kotoko's Mathew Anim Cudjoe


Speaking on Accra based Asempa fm, Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC's wonder kid Matthew Anim Cudjoe has said that he is ready to play for the black stars of Ghana.

According to the skillful attacker, he has featured for Ghana's Under-20 team before and thinks he is ready.

"I have played for the Under-20 before and I did very well. I am ready to play for the Black Stars," he said. 


Answering to a question on why he thinks he is ready to play for the most talked about team in Ghana, the teenager whose technical abilities have helped Asante Kotoko secure some crucial points in the halted 2019/20 season of the Ghana premier league including the match day six win against hearts of oak said playing for the Black Stars is not age but mentality and is confidence that the current coach, C.K. Akonnor, a former coach of Asante Kotoko will give him the opportunity to play.

"It's not about age. It's about mentality. I know they will call me. I want him (C.K Akonnor) to call me. I have confidence that he will call me to play for the Black Stars," Mathew Anim Cudjoe said.


Managed by former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan and current GFA Executive Council member, Mr Sammy Anim Addo, Mathew Anim Cudjoe popularly called Messi due to his football skill is a product of Asamoah Gyan U-15 tournament. 
He has featured for Ghana's Under 20 team and has had trials with a couple of teams in Europe including German side Baryen Munich Fc. He currently plays for Asante Kotoko in the Ghana premier league.
