VIDEO: Chaos In South Africa's Parliament, As MPs Fight Over How To Pronounce Prof. Wole Soyinka


With the parliament of every country set out to make final decision on policies that will affect the country going forward, the parliament floor of South Africa became a place of grammatical corrections when members of the house decided to battle it out on whole to pronounce the name of celebrated Nigerian writer Professor Wole Soyinka.

According to a video seen by kgnewsonline, Economy Freedom Fighters' (EFF) Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi called for a "Point Of Order" to insist that Minister Mbalula a member of the African National Congress(ANC) pronounce the Nobel Prize winner's name correct after he pronounced it wrongly in an address on the floor of parliament.


With Dr. Ndlozi who is also the Head Of Communications for the EFF a political party headed by the controversial activist Julius Malema basing his "Point Of Order" on the fact that African scholar must be respect, the house eventually became an educational center as the ANC, the majority party of the house decided to come to the defence of Minister Mbalula who happens to be the Transport Minister of South Africa.

This continued for sometime after the house chairperson manager to maintain some amount of silence in the chamber.


The said speech which brought about the confusion as at the time of filing this report was awaiting the assent of President Filipe Nysui of Mozambique. The bill aims at prohibiting marriage for children under the age of 18. It also seeks to end existing minor unions with stiff punishments of 12 years jail term, and a fine with two years imprisonment.
